Willow Tree Family Center offers several support groups for families in our community. Please see our events calendar for updated times and meeting locations.
Some of our groups include:
Newborns Group: Meets twice a month the 1st and 3rd Thursday at 10 am
Newborn Group is a peer support group for parents of newborns, generally up to about 6 months of age, though no-one will be turned away.
The purpose of Newborn Group is to be able to meet other parents who are going through the same life stage and monumental transitions, to share stories and strategies, and to develop friendships.
Parenting and Play Group: Meets twice a month time tbd
The Parenting and Play Group is a peer support group for parents of young children, generally 6 months of age through school entry, though no-one will be turned away.
The purpose of the Parenting and Play Group is to be able to meet other parents who are going through the same life stage and monumental transitions, to share stories and strategies, and to develop friendships. This group also provides opportunities for social interaction between your children and their peers.
Shades of Motherhood: Meets weekly on Thursdays at 1 pm
You are not alone. Please join us if you have experienced feelings of sadness, depression, anxiety, or irritability, or have had difficulty bonding with your baby. This support groups is facilitated by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker free of charge. This group is currently meeting on zoom. Please email Kersten for additional information.
Black Breastfeeding Sisterhood: Meets monthly the first Monday of each month for lunch at 12:30 pm
Our group supports Black mothers who breastfeed now or have breastfed in the past. We support Black mothers who ended up formula feeding because of lack of support. You and your support people are invited to join us once a month and for events throughout the year. Please follow us on Facebook.
HOPING: Meets monthly the 2nd Thursday of each month
Helping Other Parents In Normal Grieving is a Mid-Michigan support group for parents who have lost a child through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death.
RAISING BLACK AND BIRACIAL CHILDREN: Meets monthly the first Saturday of each month
For any family raising Black or biracial children. Biological, foster, adoptive and step parents or guardians are all welcome. Our goal is to raise our children with healthy racial identities and pride and to build a supportive community in the Lansing area. WORKING MAMAS: Meets monthly the second Saturday of each month
Come and network with other working moms to discuss different topics that you face when working or when returning to work after having a baby (such as pumping, daycare, balancing family/career, meal planning and more!) Please join our facebook group which is meant for discussing issues related to working and raising a family. Stay up to date on meeting times and locations.
BOOTS AND ROOTS: Meets at various times
We are a Willow Tree hiking group for families, promoting the physical and mental health of mothers/children by connecting them to nature and to each other. Please see our facebook page for event times and locations. Come out for a hike!
EXPECTANT MOMS: An online community
This facebook group is a group for expectant moms! There will be a chance to network with other pregnant mamas in the area, engage in Q&A, learn about specific topics related to pregnancy and birth and discuss topics with local doulas!
